Welcome to OwnPay. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the OwnPay website (ownpay.org), the OwnPay self-hosted payment gateway software, and our related services. By accessing our site or using our software, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms.
1. Platform Nature and White-Label Compliance
OwnPay is a single-owner, multi-brand (multi-store) payment gateway platform. You, the super-administrator, own and control the entire platform globally on your private server. Every brand you manage runs under its own custom domain and theme settings. You are solely responsible for setting up and managing staff members, roles, permissions, and brand scopes.
2. Acceptable Use and Legality
You agree not to use the OwnPay platform or its services for any unlawful, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes. You must not process payments for prohibited businesses or activities, including money laundering, terrorist financing, or selling illegal goods/services as defined by regional laws and payment processor policies.
3. Licensing and Open Source
The core OwnPay software is distributed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). By using the software, you agree to adhere to all license conditions, including keeping copyright notices intact and sharing any modifications or derived works under the same license terms.
4. Security and PCI-DSS Responsibility
Because OwnPay is fully self-hosted, you hold absolute responsibility for the security of your server environment. This includes:
- Maintaining Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) compliance if you handle, process, or transmit cardholder details.
- Securing administrative credentials, API keys, database access, and environment secrets (stored in .env files).
- Applying security updates, running audits, and protecting your application from common vulnerabilities (e.g. CSRF, SQL Injection, SSRF).
5. Limitation of Liability
OwnPay is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no representations regarding the uptime, correctness of ledger balances, or processor APIs. You accept full responsibility for any financial loss, double-entry discrepancies, or transaction issues arising from your configuration.
6. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated modification date.
